Tips to improve your resumes for engineering jobs

- Resume should not be longer than 1 to 2 pages
- Limit what you add in the resume - this is not an essay contest
- Highlight your Honors/awards list
- Focus on your professional service (not hobbies, interests, ...)
- Highlight your professional service/job related achievements:
For example, our developed software has been used by ... to solve ... resulting in ... - Highlight your ability to work with others within and outside your team
- Highlight your efficiency with tools/languages - SQL, C# only mention the languages that you can fluently write code in
- Use strong verbs: e.g., resulted in improvements, yielded performance improvements, optimized .... etc.
- Mention your online profiles: github, linkedin, etc.
- Be very specific/accurate - if you join a company, usually they will do background checks on you based on your resume.
- Limit the list of your publications to your most significant ones
- Refrain from adding personal information (e.g., birthday)
